This mug features two Wilson's warblers perching on willow branches.
Wilson’s warblers are among the smallest songbirds, migrating thousands of miles between Central and North America. Tiny but mighty! I spotted these energetic birds during their brief stopover in the Southwest this spring—their fleeting visit and signature black cap inspired this design. I made the mug on the pottery wheel, then handpainted the birds and carved the desert willow background.

Microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe. Hand washing recommended for pieces with sculpted details.
Wheel-thrown stoneware, hand-sculpted and painted with underglazes and glazes.

Handwashing is recommended for pieces with sculpted details.
Even fully vitrified ceramics can absorb liquids over time if left soaking, especially in dirty or colored water, and get stained. Avoid prolonged soaking and rinse promptly after use.
Sudden temperature swings (like ice water into a hot mug or fridge-to-microwave) can cause cracks in ceramics over time. Letting pieces reach room temperature before heating or chilling helps them last longer.
