Hand-carved using the sgraffito technique, the mug features a pair (male and female) of Gambel’s or California quail nestled among prickly pear cactus—their source of both food and shelter. The piece reflects companionship and the interconnectedness of organisms sharing the same ecosystem.

Microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe. Hand washing recommended for pieces with sculpted details.
Wheel-thrown stoneware, hand-sculpted and painted with underglazes and glazes.

Handwashing is recommended for pieces with sculpted details.
Even fully vitrified ceramics can absorb liquids over time if left soaking, especially in dirty or colored water, and get stained. Avoid prolonged soaking and rinse promptly after use.
Sudden temperature swings (like ice water into a hot mug or fridge-to-microwave) can cause cracks in ceramics over time. Letting pieces reach room temperature before heating or chilling helps them last longer.
