My recent encounter of the harbor seals was on a pebble beach along the central California coast during pupping season, where the adults were resting and a few pups were honing their swimming skill in the shallow water. Their coats are remarkably diverse, ranging from pale silvers to dark blue to deep browns with unique spot and ring patterns, and I reflected that natural variety and that fond memory in this design.
The mug body was wheel-thrown, and the seals were hand-painted.

Microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe. Hand washing recommended for pieces with sculpted details.

Handwashing is recommended for pieces with sculpted details.
Even fully vitrified ceramics can absorb liquids over time if left soaking, especially in dirty or colored water, and get stained. Avoid prolonged soaking and rinse promptly after use.
Sudden temperature swings (like ice water into a hot mug or fridge-to-microwave) can cause cracks in ceramics over time. Letting pieces reach room temperature before heating or chilling helps them last longer.
