Turkey vultures are partial migrants. Populations far north migrate south, whereas southern populations in general stay put.
What I'm trying to capture here is their graceful flying behavior of using thermals (rising hot air) to gain altitude to search for food, through the spiral that I carved into the background. During migration, you might catch a huge group, called a kettle, of them riding the thermals, which resemble bubbles spiraling up a boiling kettle.
Turkey vultures are such interesting and unique birds that I can just go on and on with cool facts about them. I'm just happy whenever I see them, for their presence indicates a healthy ecosystem.

Care Guide
Care Guide
for ceramic drinkware & tableware
- Dishwasher-safe. Handwashing is recommended to best preserve your favorite critters.
- Microwave-safe with caution. White clay pieces are generally fine. Dark clays (brown, red, or black) tend to overheat in my experience, so microwaving is not advised, or use extra care when handling.
- Avoid sudden temperature shifts. Let pieces reach room temperature before heating or chilling.
- Avoid soaking in standing water for long to prevent staining.
