Dark-eyed Junco are the OG “snowbirds”, because they show up right as winter settles in, moving from colder northern forests and mountains where they breed down south to your backyards and towns in search of food. You'll most likely catching them hopping on the snowy ground and leaf litters looking for seeds. That scene is the theme of this mug design.
This mug is a collaboration between me and a birding and pottery friend, Nick Molatore (www.nickmolatore.com). He's a production potter and an avid potter based in Oregon and Arizona. I've said it many times that people who love nature and handcrafted goods are truly the best people, and this collaboration reflects the community (online and in-person) that I am lucky to build when doing the things I love most.
Volume: ~12-14 oz
Wheel-thrown (or occationally slab-built) stoneware, hand-sculpted and painted with underglazes and glazes.
Care Guide
Care Guide
for ceramic drinkware & tableware
- Dishwasher-safe. Handwashing is recommended to best preserve your favorite critters.
- Microwave-safe with caution. White clay pieces are generally fine. Dark clays (brown, red, or black) tend to overheat in my experience, so microwaving is not advised, or use extra care when handling.
- Avoid sudden temperature shifts. Let pieces reach room temperature before heating or chilling.
- Avoid soaking in standing water for long to prevent staining.
