Rufous Hummingbird Mug
Rufous Hummingbird Mug
Couldn't load pickup availability
Rufous hummingbirds perform one of the most extraordinary migratory journeys in the animal kingdom, traveling nearly ~4,000 miles one way between its breeding grounds in Alaska and northwest Canada and its wintering sites in Mexico. Relative to its body size, this is considered the longest migration of any bird, covering roughly 78.4 million body lengths.
This mug is a collaboration between me and a birding and pottery friend, Nick Molatore (www.nickmolatore.com). He's a production potter and an avid potter based in Oregon and Arizona. I've said it many times that people who love nature and handcrafted goods are truly the best people, and this collaboration reflects the community I am lucky to build when doing the things I love the most.
Volume: ~12-14 oz
Wheel-thrown (or occationally slab-built) stoneware, hand-sculpted and painted with underglazes and glazes.
Care Guide
Care Guide
for ceramic drinkware & tableware
- Dishwasher-safe. Handwashing is recommended to best preserve your favorite critters.
- Microwave-safe with caution. White clay pieces are generally fine. Dark clays (brown, red, or black) tend to overheat in my experience, so microwaving is not advised, or use extra care when handling.
- Avoid sudden temperature shifts. Let pieces reach room temperature before heating or chilling.
- Avoid soaking in standing water for long to prevent staining.
