Blue Jays have a complex, mysterious, and partial migration pattern where only about 20% of the population migrates. While many are year-round residents, others, particularly young ones, fly south in flocks, sometimes migrating one year and not the next.
I hand-painted the bird with black underglaze in a watercolor style, then glaze the bowl with a floating blue glaze to suggest the jay's tue color.
Wheel-thrown (or occationally slab-built) stoneware, hand-sculpted and painted with underglazes and glazes.

- Dishwasher-safe. Handwashing is recommended to best preserve your favorite critters.
- Microwave-safe with caution. White clay pieces are generally fine. Dark clays (brown, red, or black) tend to overheat in my experience, so microwaving is not advised, or use extra care when handling.
- Avoid sudden temperature shifts. Let pieces reach room temperature before heating or chilling.
- Avoid soaking in standing water for long to prevent staining.
